For me, history begins close to home: in the work people do, the neighborhoods they build, and the stories they leave behind. Digging where I stand means looking closely, following the evidence, and finding the larger human story in a particular place.
I hold a Ph.D. in history from Boston College and served as a Fulbright Scholar and Distinguished Chair in American History at Moscow State University. I am the author of Picturing Class: Lewis W. Hine Photographs Child Labor in New England, published by the University of Massachusetts Press.
My experience spans university teaching, museum work, curating, and public history, including teaching at the University of Connecticut and Fairfield University. Through River of Fire Historic Resources, I bring that experience to your manuscript, your community’s history, or your next public program.
